Background
Harwood Timber Sdn Bhd (HTSB)
Harwood Timber Sdn Bhd (HTSB), a wholly owned subsidiary of Sarawak Timber Industry Development Corporation (STIDC) was incorporated on 3rd January 1985. Its principal business at that time was to buy and sell logs to the local market.
On 24th January 1994, the Government of Sarawak appointed Harwood as the sole authorized agency for the purpose of purchasing, collection, sale and transmission of timber to local licensed sawmills in the state as per prescribed under Section 67A (5) of the Forest Ordinance of Sarawak.
In August 1995, Harwood’s role was administratively reviewed to “Log Endorsement” which involves inspecting and endorsing the distribution, movement and transportation of all logs under the Reservation Quota.
On 28th January 2002, Harwood Timber Sdn Bhd once again appointed as the authorised agency to issue export clearance certificate for all export logs.
On 10th June 2009, Harwood was authorised to inspect all land vehicles carrying logs from the base camp to the local licensed mills.
Harwood achieved ISO 9001 : 2000 Certification on the 5th November 2004. In 2010, the certification was renewed to ISO 9001 : 2008, which covers the following activities:
- Log Endorsement
- Shipping and Transportation Administration
- Inspection of Export Logs
In 2017, The company upgraded the ISO Certificate to ISO9001:2015 as per certified by SIRIM on the 27th December 2017.
