Pre Sarawak Log Grading Rules (SLGR) was conducted on 23rd April 2014 until 25th April 2014 in Sibu Regional Office. The training was facilitated by En. Mohd Zaini Dris and En. Yii Poung Hoo from STIDC. There were 15 log inspectors who attended this training.
The objective of the training was to prepare the log inspectors with the right skills and knowledge of timber grading, species and measurement before attending the SLGR course scheduled on 9th June 2014 until 27th June 2014.
|The Pre-SLGR Training consisted of 3 parts:

|Day 2 – Practical at the mill|
|Day 3 – Revision and SLGR Practical Examination|
On the first day, the training was held in Harwood Sibu conference room where the log inspectors learnt the general information about timber including classification of Sarawak timber species, system of measurement, defects and grade specifications. The second day saw all the trainers and the log inspectors went to Subur Tiasa Holdings Bhd (mill) for practical session. This practical session were basically on the system of log measurement, types of defects found in logs, and grade specification.

During the last day of training, the theory revision and SLGR Practical examination took place at the regional office.
Through the training, the log inspectors were exposed to the different timber species, able to identify defects, calculate the measurement and grade the timber species. Overall, the log inspectors understand and gained a lot of knowledge and insights on SLGR training.
