Effective Ways to Build and Write Informative Articles

Communication is about more than just exchanging information. It's about understanding the emotion and intentions behind the information. Effective communication is also a two-way street. It’s not only how you convey a message so that it is received and understood by someone in exactly the way you intended, it’s also how you listen to gain the full meaning of what’s being said and to make the other person feel heard and understood .

In Harwood , internally we communicate mostly through phone calls , emails , E-bulletin and E-board . Therefore , on the 2nd and 3rd of November , Events and Publication Unit has organized a short course for the regional staff state wide . The short course is entitled Effective Ways to Build and Write Informative Articles . Harwood’s staff from Miri , Sibu , Sarikei and Bintulu were gathered at Bintulu Regional Office for the two days course .

The objective of the course is to teach the representative from each region on how to gather sources and transfer them into an informative article . These articles ( or slides ) will be shared on Harwood’s E-bulletin and E-board to ensure that everyone in Harwood get the same fair amount of information shared across the regions .

There were 8 participants , 2 from each region attended the course that was facilitated by Cik Nurul Izzah from Events and Publication Unit in Harwood HQ . The course started with the introduction of E-board and E-bulletin’s role in Harwood . Participants were also taught on how to write informative articles step by step and were given time to write and learn . Each group has to present their work for E-board and E-bulletin for both days to ensure a better understanding .

With this lesson , we hope all staff across the region will share their news more frequently than they already are to ensure better communication among our organization . After all , in line with the popular belief , sharing is caring .
