Harwood Chinese New Year 2017

Chinese New Year , also known as Spring Festival or Lunar new Year , is one of Malaysia’s traditional festival . It is also the most important celebration for the Chinese .

Chinese people believe that a good start to the year will lead to a lucky year . Chinese traditionally celebrated the start of a new year of farm work , and wished for a good harvest . The main traditional celebrations of the festival include reunion dinner with family , giving red envelopes (angpow) , firecrackers , new clothes , and decorations . 2017 is a year of the Rooster according to the Chinese 12-year animal zodiac cycle .

 

Foods and Chinese New Year Decoration at Endorsement and Shipping Office

 

Chinese New Year celebration in Harwood is not to be missed . As an annual event in Harwood , Events and Publication Unit has organized a small gathering at Harwood Endorsement and Shipping Office on the 10th of February 2017 . This celebration is especially catered for our Chinese staff and to show our appreciation and respect towards each others’ faith and belief . Various kind of food were served on the day together with beautiful red lanterns decorations that lit the room .

 Executive Chairman , YBhg Tan Sri Datuk Amar Haji Bujang Bin Mohd Nor and General Manager , Haji Abdul Hadi bin Datuk Haji Abdul Kadir attended the gathering alongside our Deputy General Manager , Mr. Ong Lip Kheng and Harwood Management Team . The celebration began with a doa recital by Encik  Yusuf Bin Ali of  QMAU Department followed by speeches from Executive Chairman , YBhg Tan Sri Datuk Amar Haji Bujang Bin Mohd Nor , GM , Tuan Haji Abdul Hadi Bin Datuk Abd Kadir and DGM , Mr. Ong Lip Kheng .

The Harwood Long Service Award 2017 was concurrently carried out during this gathering to honour Cik Julia Binti Sahani 20 years of service in Harwood . Cik Julia has been with Harwood since the 1st February of 1997 . During her 20 years of service , she is  known to be very friendly and handy when needed . Her coffee and tea are also to die for to say the least . With such award to our loyal and hardworking staff , we hope that everyone else will be inspired to continue their service with integrity and respect to achieve  the company’s vision and mission . A multimedia presentation dedicated to all Harwood staff was presented to mark the end of the gathering .
