This year, we took an initiative to collaborate with other agencies, Sarawak National Anti-Drug Agency (AADK), Kuching Division. This new initiative is part of Harwood’s CSR Programme that aims to reach out to more children in Kuching/Samarahan Area that need our assistance.
There were 16 students, the children of those who are under the observation of the Sarawak National Anti-Drug Agency (AADK), received school supplies on the 19 of December 2019. We hope that the children of the individuals under AADK’s supervision would be given equal opportunities as the children of other individuals. We also hope that this little help will motivate them to go to school and excel in their studies despite the hardship they’re facing.
With a programme like this, we hope it will change the people’s perception of individuals under the AADK’s supervision as well as their families. Nobody should be left behind despite of their parents’ mistakes or past. It is not our job to punish them. As a society, we should be supportive of the children as they’re the future of our country.
The closing ceremony for the one day event (of distributing school supplies) was held at the Serapi Hotel attended by our very own General Manager, Tuan Haji Zainal Abidin Bin Haji Abdullah, Deputy General Manager, Mr. Ong Lip Kheng, Management Team of Harwood Timber Sdn Bhd as well as AADK, Kuching District Chief , Puan Sharifah Azimah Said Ismail.
