Harwood Timber began offering Waqaf as a way to donate. Since then, our donations have helped a lot of people in the local community and Maahad Tahfiz included. This is a valuable opportunity to contribute to much-needed community and to improve their lives.
On 7th of June 2017, YBhg Executive Chairman, Tan Sri Datuk Amar Haji Bujang Bin Mohd Nor, GM, Tuan Haji Abdul Hadi Bin Datuk Haji Abd Kadir, Management Team and Harwood staff went to Selang Ulu to visit these Maahad Tahfiz. YBhg Executive Chairman took his time to talk to these students and teachers to listen to their story and journey.
Most students in these Maahad Tahfiz are from the outskirts and aging around 11-18 years old. Their sole purpose in this school is to memorize the Quran. Living in the boarding school, they are only allowed to go back home twice a year or according to the ministry school holiday.
This year in the month of Ramadhan, Harwood has made two donations to Maahad Tahfiz Raudhatul Jannah and Maahad Tahfiz Ribat Raudhah Al-Mustafa at Selang Ulu respectively. Basic necessity like rice, cooking oil, biscuits, bread, noodles, eggs, ketchup, and soy sauce were donated.
Waqaf, or ‘endowment’, is a long-standing Islamic tradition. It is an inalienable charitable endowment under Islamic referring to the dedication of some valuable goods – land, a building, or even money for Muslim religious or charitable purposes with no intention of reclaiming the assets.
We hope that with the small contribution from Harwood from time to time will help these students in their study directly and indirectly. We also hope that these donations will help transform lives and may open doors for endless reward in the hereafter.
